Personality
Austin is fairly easy going, but sometimes when stressed has a short temper. He possesses a quick wit and tries to find humor in any situation. He is loyal to a fault and is bent on proving himself to his superiors.
Hobbies and Interests:
Austin enjoys playing volleyball and even tried out for the Earth league while at the Academy. He didn't make it, but still enjoys it as a hobby. Other hobbies and interests include swimming, bowling, late 20th and early 21st century Earth music, and an obsession with the Harry Potter series of novels written in the early 21st century.
History
Austin was born in the year 2259 to Greg and Marie Wagner. Both of his parents are Starfleet Engineers stationed at Utopia Planitia. Growing up he knew he would join Starfleet, but he had no interest in being an Engineer as his parents before him. His father was not too happy about him pursuing a career in the sciences, but he eventually came to terms with it. Before enrolling in Starfleet Austin became romantically involved with Devyn Hunt, a childhood friend.
At the Academy Austin excelled in his courses. He was always interested in the stars and other stellar objects so it was no surprise that he majored in Stellar Cartography and Astrophysics. He also minored in Earth History with an emphasis on the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Austin and Devyn continued to see each other through his time at the Academy, and the two forged close friendships with Austin's classmate Mark Edgars and his boyfriend Trent Porter.
After graduating, Austin was assigned to the USS Calgary as a Science Officer. Shortly before leaving for his post Devyn broke up with him without giving any reason. Austin was devastated and nearly let it ruin his career. He accepted a low level position at the Utopia Planitia Shipyards where he stayed for two years. Finally he decided to put his career ahead of his heart and transferred to the USS Calgary. His posting to the Calgary was short however as the recommissioned Miranda class ship had far too many technical problems and was once again decommissioned.
Luck seemed to be with him and he was transferred to the USS Archimedes as Stellar Cartographer. After only a few months in the position he was promoted to Assistant Chief Science Officer under Doctor Sebastian Paulik, with the rank of Lieutenant JG. The Doctor resigned after five months and Austin was then promoted to Chief Science Officer and the rank of a full Lieutenant. Finally Austin was in a happy place and advancing quickly in Starfleet.
Austin was then offered the Second Officer's position by Commodore Nathan Geiger, which Austin of course accepted.
