History

Christopher Edward Brown was born in Halifax, NS, Canada. His mother left shortly before his second birthday and was never heard from again. At an early age, Chris showed an attraction to engineering. A trait inherited from his father. From the age of eleven, Chris was raised in Gander, NL Canada by his single father (Chris II) where he and his father worked side by side in their small replacement part warehouse business (C Brown and Son Engineering Warehouse Limited) near the local space port. During his teenage years, Ceb grew to know a lot of freighter captains and salvage workers. Many of them were almost considered extended family and Ceb often called them Aunt or Uncle. Ceb would listen to the old timers tell of their journeys in space. He and his father would talk about taking time away from their business in order to travel off world. After a while, these old timers began to bring Ceb souvenirs of their voyages and in most cases, these souvenirs took the form of caps from various ships, stations, outposts and colonies. These caps became Ceb's prize possessions and he has continued to collect them throughout his Starfleet career.

In 2367, his father was diagnosed with a rare form of Iverson's Syndrome and after a long battle with the disease, his father died in 2373. The two lost their business a year earlier trying to cover the medical bills. On his deathbed, Chris II apologized for not fulfilling his promise for the two of them to travel off world. With his business and his father gone, Chris decided to join Starfleet where he will be able to travel as he and his father discussed.

Being the oldest in his class at the academy, Chris missed out on much of the "academy experience." This has caused him to separate himself from other new recruits instead finding company in faculty and staff of the campus. Many classmates saw this as the way Chris gained his high marks in class which only served to increase the rift between him and his fellow classmates. False rumours began to follow Chris about his relations with staff members. This caused Chris to develop a heightened awareness of rumours and he has prided himself on his ability to filter rumour from truth.

Despite the encouragement of his friends, Chris decided not to continue his training at the academy and dropped out in order to apply for posting as an enlisted crewman. At that point, he has already spent two years in a classroom learning things he had known since the age of fifteen. He had enough of the student life and wanted to return to the real world. He figured that officer training would always be an option if he ever changed his mind.
