Normal 003.jpg

Rank: Assistant Operations Officer
Position: Lieutenant Junior Grade

Appearance

Species: Human/Vulcan

Gender: Male
Born: 2358
Place of Birth: New Zealand
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: 6'4"

Hadion is tall (6'4") with a slightly lanky gait, but paradoxally he is of solid build. Always with slightly unkempt hair, he occasionally borders on scruffy in appearance, but manages to maintain a standard that leaves only the picky to have issues. His Vulcanish appearance (eyebrows and ears) often masks the fact that he truly VERY human. His brown eyes are soft and welcoming, and often lack intensity even in troubled times.

Personality

Hadion is a man that constantly second guesses himself except for when he has no time to do so. In regular every day job performance he is often distracted by his own thoughts. In social situations he struggles to talk to women; although, his thoughts often paint pictures of possible fantasy-type situations. When time is it a premium and Hadion is unable o has time to second guess himself, he is found to be a very capable, intelligent, and inventive officer.

When asked to describe Hadion, most people have said what equated to "He is pretty much a loveable goof, but there is more to him than we think."

History

The oldest of three siblings, Hadion was always the Fare child with the most Vulcan appearance. His mother was often off on some assignment for the Federation. She being half Vulcan and quite a gifted Astrophysicist was in high demand. Many of her assignments were classified, and, to be honest, Hadion barely knew her. She was much closer to his sisters. He didn't mind though. He had his father.

Dad was Hadion's hero growing up. He is just and fair man that worked as the diplomatic attaché at the Penal Colony in New Zealand. To say that he was Hadion's hero was understating it; Had (as his family and friends call him) idolized his father, and wanted more than anything to please him. Seeing that his son was very much an adventurer and explorer (Hadion was always to be found in the nearby gully building forts and finding new bugs with which to scare his sisters, when he was young), Harold Fare decided that Starfleet was the best place for his son to meet his full potential. He then proceeded to immerse his son in the history of the Federation and Starfleet. Hadion, of course, lapped it up.

Hadion was somewhat of an enigma to all who meet him through the years. He appears to be a run of the mill, logical, emotionally suppressed Vulcan, but is in fact completely Human in his approach to life. His mother had had very little influence on his formative years. He used this to his advantage in his often misguided attempts at practical jokes.

Hadion attended Otago University as suggested by his father. He never achieved grades that put him at the top of his class, but he was always very close. Close didn't cut it for Hadion; he had to make his father proud. This drive caused Hadion to resort to stimulants at one stage, and he, in turn, became addicted. A very lenient and forgiving Professor was the one who discovered Hadion's hidden problem, and he selflessly guided the young man through the withdrawals and encouraged Had all the way to graduation. Hadion graduated near the bottom of his class (which was extremely disappointing to him) and received his Bachelor of Federation History. His mother was at his graduation ceremony. She asked why he took history and intended to serve on a Starfleet; apparently, it was not a logical combination. Hadion simply looked at his father and smiled. After all, according to his father, to properly serve in Starfleet you must know where it comes from initially. In the end, Hadion found that Dad was wrong. There were so many times that he needed some knowledge in other more practical areas.

One year into his time at the Academy, Hadion received a report that his mother had been killed aboard a Starfleet vessel. Her location or assignment was not given. Hadion's father was furious. (Had could always tell his father deeply loved his mother.) Harold Fare blamed Starfleet for the death of his wife, and told Hadion what he thought of Starfleet, the Federation, and Hadion's desire to serve in these two organizations. Hadion was devastated, but he knew that if there was some 'hidden conspiracy' as his father said then the best place to find it was from within Starfleet, and if not, it was the best place to be to restore his father's faith in him, and Starfleet. The next time he tried to contact his father the Penal Colony reported that he had left without notice and there were rumours of his joining a dissident group apposed to Federation secrecy. Hadion felt as though his father was now his enemy. He felt torn, bitter, and angry.

His tenure in Starfleet did not bring rise to any special gifts in any particular area, but he did show an intense level of organizational ability, and the ability to temporarily fill in for roles that he may not necessarily be notably gifted in and still perform his duty admirably. Several times, while training exercises, he came through as a quick thinker and problem solver. He was reported once for an inappropriate approach to a problem amidst a training exercise. It was later found that there were no rules against his methods and he instead was commended for his resourcefulness. (The loop-hole was promptly fixed.) Whenever he was assigned to a team for bridge simulations, it seemed like everyone had a place that they were born to occupy. Hadion on the other hand simply fell into the remaining vacancy which often tended to be Ops. He graduated fourth in his class, and was noted as having a resourceful and outside-the-square approach to problem solving.

Upon graduation he was assigned to serve aboard DS12. His commanding officer found him to be more effort than he considered being worthwhile, and did all in his power to have him transferred. Disheartened and ashamed Hadion assumed his second post aboard an Akira-class vessel along the neutral zone. Here he served under an officer that took time to find his strengths and work on his weaknesses. Hadion thrived under the tutelage of the officer and was even promoted for his excellent work. His Chief realized that Hadion would not grow as much as he could if he stayed under his command and requested that he be transferred. Hadion did not like the idea, but as usual went along with the advice of a man that he had grown to trust. Shortly after his promotion he was transferred.

Starfleet would not release information about her death, much to the ire of her husband.
