Not a person to hold back, able to tell a certain Starfleet Commander when he was being a dick and to get over himself. Compassionate, caring, relentless and driven. Had a wicked sense or humour.

History

Janaia was raised by her paternal grandfather on Betazed after her parents (colonists) were both killed. Her passion was in the written word and the power it could hold. She became a journalist and had a knack of getting to the truth, no matter how well hidden. This led to Janaia receiving special assignments which would sometimes see her investigations taking her undercover in some tricky areas of the galaxy.

One such assignment, in fact her last, led her to uncover an organisation that were creating and then selling genetically engineered children. Deciding the best way to sneak evidence out was to impregnate herself and walked out the front door. Escaping had been easy, staying alive and able to publish her findings however was another story. This was when she encountered Commander Nathan Geiger, while he was on holiday, by this point Janaia was almost three months pregnant. After the man risks his own neck to save her, the pair spend the next fortnight getting close. When he declares he has feelings for her, she rejects him fearing that what is after her would come after him.

After rescue, Rear Admiral Eliza Speight of Starbase 50 helped her to disappear. Janaia had revealed to Eliza that she was pregnant and that the father was a very bad man and is the one who tried to harm her. It was Eliza who suggested she put Nathan down as the father on the birth certificate in case anything should happen to her.

Not long after she disappeared, Janaia wrote and published her first romance novel under the pen name Jessica Hornsby. She wrote another five, four of which were also published.
