Personality
She is a typical Andorian. Loyal, fierce and egotistical. She is supremely confident on her ability, which makes people call her conceited and pretentious. She just calls it jealousy and ignores it. A person who never questions orders, works very hard to satisfy every demand put on her. She is often cited as callous to the feeling of others, which she rebutts as a failure to keep up. Also she is irritated by children for reasons unknown, though its safe to speculate a connection with her inability to conceive children.
History
Andorian society is often an enigma to outsiders. This is in part due to the unique reproductive nature of Andorian physiology and partly due to their temperament, which mirrors the unstable weather patterns of Andorr. The complexity of Andorian reproduction makes their society divide on caste lines. Mainly into the fertile and non fertile. Andor consist of numerous kethni or clans. These are superfamilies which have the matriachs and her consorts reproducing and caring for the young and the non fertile members forming the working force of the clan. The biggest 300 clans are given seats on the ruling council which is headed by the constitutional monarch of Andorr.
Tarhrissia or Tara, was born into the Dani clan, a highly respected superfamily consisting of many legendary warriors and famous cultural icons of Andorr's past. The genetic tests provided by her doctors predicted her to be a fertile birth mother in the future. This led her to have a comfortable existence for the most part of her life. Dedicating herself to the culture and history of Andorr she became an artist, quickly garnering a reputation as an upcoming artist. Puberty struck and something was wrong. The hormonal changes were not taking place, but she waited to tell anyone about her problem hoping it was just delayed.
Soon, it was discovered she was infact infertile and that the doctors had made a mistake at birth. She had to undergo a change in her name, but to her it was more than that. Although no discrimination is done on the basis of reproductive capabilities on Andorr, the respect afforded to those who are fertile is immense. To lose that prestige, devastated her. She shunned her family and friends and became reclusive. Enraged at herself she quickly disappeared from Andorr, hitchhiking among the starlanes.
The Rebirth of Tarhrissia
She aimlessly traveled to many corners of the quadrant, never getting any peace of mind. She struggled to get her act together getting into scrapes and fights everywhere. In her travels, she finally reached Earth. She made a couple of friends in the Andorian embassy who were sympathetic to her plight. They mentioned an Andorian who lived in India who was a famed member of her clan.
Intrigued she went to visit him in Haridvar, in the Himalayas. She made the treacherous journey and when she finally reached the ashram she was shocked to see an aged Andorian living in a simple hut, with no modern amenities. She welcomed her to his house as a guest. Initially reluctant she slowly opened up to him.
Imagine her shock when she heard, he was none other than Thethaaz hl'Dani lir'Vookh'veeb [Thet], the famed Starfleet captain of the USS Eagle, one of the chief architects of the Khitomer accords and the first Federation ambassador to the Tholian Assembly.
Tired of his expansive career serving the Federation, he quietly retired into the bliss of simplicity and the unknown in the foothills of the Himalayas. Feeling pity for the confused child, he took her under his wing. Seeing her potential in the martial arts, he trained her to be a duelist and an expert in the Andorian fighting styles. A year later she left to begin her enlistment into the Starfleet marines. But not before accepting Thethaaz as her spiritual father, by taking his last name. The warrior caste of the Virtuous Blade.
She enlisted to the Marines bootcamp, instead of the more comfortable officers training route. She felt the need to prove to the universe she was worthy of her ancestors name. She excelled in her qualifications and was sent straight into battle. Her unit was involved in the long and protracted siege of AR-558. She called it the Dominion Cesspool when she submitted her report. The reason was clear to her in hindsight, when she sent in with the first wave of marines.
The Dominion Cesspool
She could feel her pulse rising as she and her squad touched down on the ground. Almost immediately mines began to explode around them. It was the Houdini type Dominion anti personnel mines. Hiding in subspace, invisible to sensors they cut through marines like a knife through butter. A nearby explosion hit her in the left arm, cutting her badly. Half her unit was down and out in the initial chaos.
Despite these losses, the marines kept dropping in hoping to overwhelm the Jem'hadar. But the Jem'Hadar were not the ones to quit over odds. Marines kept dying, so did the Jem'Hadar. It was so visceral that Tara's hrisal [Andorian bladed weapon] had to do most of the fighting. Battle weary with the constant Jem'Hadar counter strikes, she and her squad retreated for the time being to take stock of the situation.
The platoon was decimated, communications were jammed, so were the tricorders. They were alone and cut off from the rest of the force. With no commanding officer in their team, she proposed to lead them out of the quandary. After all, she was Andorian. Her antennae were the best sensors they could have. She led them around the beachhead of resistance the other marines had set up.
She had a plan, flank them and strike a blow in their supply chain. After all, guerrilla warfare was something she specialized in. When she saw where she had led them......................... she was in shock. It was the Dominion central power capsule. Knocking it out, would give them time to beam troops directly into the complex. The reserve power sources would not kick in time to block them.
Telling her squad mates to give her cover, she went in to the compound hoping to reverse the polarity in one of the induction coils of the generator. There was two Jem'Hadar, several more in the compound. This was a one way trip, for sure. With a prayer on her lips, and cold courage in her veins she lunged forward with her hrisal, plunging it straight in the neck of the first Jem'Hadar. A couple of kicks dispatched the other.
The alert had sounded, the alerted security began to run in to stop the sabotage. She did not have the time to do this the safe way, the Dominion lockouts were too complicated. She had prepared herself for this. Setting her phaser to overload, she prepared to die in glorious battle. No Jem'Hadar showed up, her team had done it. They stopped the flow of Jem'Hadar.
She cursed herself, and prepared to make a run for it. Just as she made it out the phaser exploded resulting in a cascade failure of primary power. The USS Kumari, which laid in orbit waiting detected the failure. It launched phaser blasts against whatever sizable troop formation the Jem'Hadar had, now that they could read life signs. Marines beamed into the complex mopping out resistance.
The impotent girl of the Andorr had delivered the deathblow to the Dominion resistance. She had earned her name as a part of the lir'Vookh'veeb. After a month before leaving due to a worsening infection in her wound. As she left, she remembered all the sacrifices the Federation had made to get that rock. She hoped it had been worth it. She later read that the Federation lost 164 people till the end of the war defending it.
The Sabbatical
After the war, she took a sabbatical to rest from the horrors of war. She went back to be with Thet in the Himalayas. But to her horror, she found him to be dying of old age. Spending the last moments of his life with his daughter, he died peacefully.
Tara as his adopted daughter performed all the rituals of 'The Sending' including the rite of memory. It is the transcribing of a person's life into a rock crystal, to be placed in the wall of remembrance of the clan's spiritual home.
She decided to join Starfleet in Thet's footsteps. She joined the academy and graduated in 2377. She worked on DS12 as part of their Security team. Even though she relished the sheer excitement of the wild frontier, her constant conflicts with the equally arrogant Chief of Security led to her requesting a transfer to another ship, the USS Archimedes.
