Trill
There are two forms of intelligent life native to the planet Trill.
1. A humanoid species known as the Trill.
2. A vermiform species known as Trill symbionts.
From orbit, the planet Trill is notable for its purple oceans. On the surface, notable locations include the Tenaran ice cliffs and the caves of Mak'ala. The civilian starship fleet of Trill is constructed in the Cerulean Shipyards on the planet's second moon.
Humanoid Trill
The dominant form of intelligent life on the planet Trill are known as the Trill. Their physiology is humanoid in nature, and they closely resemble Humans from Earth. Trills can be distinguished by two rows of brown spots trailing down their bodies, from their foreheads to their toes. As well, Trills are known for their cold hands.
Symbiont
A veriform intelligent life-form found on the planet Trill. Symbionts are commonly said to look like slugs. Their average lifespan numbers in the hundreds of years. Their natrual habitat is within bodies of water.
Symbionts and humanoid Trills can "join" their memories and personalities when a symbiont lives within the abdominal cavity of a humanoid Trill. Neither the symbiont nor the humanoid host dominate this joining; the comingling of their previous existences essentially creates a new person altogether. When a humanoid host dies, the symbiont can often survive to be returned to the water or joined with another host. The joining of humanoid and symbiont is facilitated, and strictly controlled, by the Trill Symbiosis Commission.
